Where to shop online for eco fashion
One thing I’ve observed about eco fashion brands out there is that there are a LOT of them. It makes me happy that they are abundant. However, I’m also a little sad that there aren’t as many of them in Asia as there should be. Having said that, several online marketplaces carry a variety of eco fashion brands that ship internationally. So if you live in Asia, access to them is no problem at all.
I narrowed down my marketplace finds to four that ship internationally and carry a good variety of products. I’d like to state here that I found them via online research and I have no affiliation with or earnings from them. My reviews of these marketplaces are therefore entirely independent.
Here they are, in no particular order:
Etsy has long been the go-to marketplace for eco fashion finds. To make it a little easier, simply type in ‘ethical fashion’ in the search box and you’ll be taken to a page of the most popular eco fashion items. Bear in mind that you’ll be paying a premium for many of the items, as they are hand-made and not mass produced. However, remember that you’re also paying for quality and you will also have peace of mind that your clothes were ethically sourced and made. Whitenife is an online fashion marketplace based out of India. It is touted as ‘Asia’s largest ethical fashion marketplace’. Now, it doesn’t carry as many brands as Etsy does (Whitenife lists 30+ brands), however you can rest assured that the items are of premium quality and are unique. The site does sell luxury fashion, so if you’re willing to spend on beautiful and high quality fashion items, you’ll be happy enough. What I liked is that Whitenife does not just offer worldwide shipping, it also offers carbon neutral shipping by UPS. Check out the Whitenife website at: http://whitenife.com/
Ecohabitude is an online marketplace for all kinds of socially conscious products, not just apparel. I found quite a variety of clothing items here at moderately reasonable prices, all made sustainably. I also like that there is a ‘scoring system’ for each brand, so customers know exactly how ethical and/or sustainable that brand is. I’d definitely recommend this site for the fashion-conscious, socially-minded person. Visit the website at: https://ecohabitude.com/
I chanced upon Green Orchyd while reading another eco fashion blog, so this is not my ‘find’. There’s a pretty good variety of brands and styles on this website, rivaling that of Ecohabitude. I liked the fact that I could find ethical footwear as well as beauty products on this site, similar to Ecohabitude. However, be warned that much of the ethical apparel featured on this website uses silk or leather, so that may not go down well with people who are vegan or vegetarian. If you can deal with that, you’ll have a good shopping experience on the website. Visit Green Orchyd at: https://greenorchyd.com/
